Transportation

Creek View Elementary School strongly encourages parents to use the school bus system for sending their children safely to school. Doing so reduces congestion in the parking lot during our busy mornings and reduces emissions within our school’s immediate environment. Our policies relating to the transportation of our students our outlined below. If there is any change to your child’s regular transportation pattern, CVES requires notification in writing using the Transportation Change Form (click to download). If you have additional questions, please visit our front desk.

BUS CHANGE

Students must get on and off their own bus at their own stop only. Students may not ride another bus for the purpose of visiting a friend. If it is necessary to change buses due to long-term childcare you must obtain written authorization from the North Fulton Transportation Department. In Emergency situations only, the Principal or Assistant Principal may grant bus changes. This may only be accomplished with written consent from the parent or legal guardian. Students who ordinarily ride the bus and desire to accompany a friend, who is a car rider, must bring written permission from a parent/guardian. All transportation notes must be sent to the office by 9:00 AM. NOTE: Kindergarten students must be met at the bus stop by their parent/guardian or the bus driver will return them to the school.

CAR POOL

We have an excellent bus system and encourage all students to ride the bus; however, car riding is an option. Due to the number of parents who choose to drive their children, the car pool lane is very crowded. Please allow plenty of extra time in your schedule. Students must be dropped off in front of the school on the sidewalk. Drivers must follow the traffic patterns and follow directions from supervising staff members in order to provide a safe environment. DO NOT drop off children in the parking lot. If you choose to park, you MUST escort your child across the carpool crosswalk. Students must exit the car on the right, so they get out on the sidewalk only. If they need help carrying their things, please park in the lot and walk them into the building. Students must be in their classrooms by 7:40 AM or they are considered tardy. If a student is in the carpool lane when they 7:40 AM bell rings, the parent must park and walk their child to the front desk for late check-in. In the afternoon, car riders are called at approximately 2:20 PM. Allow several minutes for them to reach the pick up area and prepare to wait until you are in front of the school and next to the sidewalk before you allow your child to enter the car.

WALKERS

This is another preferred method for arriving to school. Because the safety of our children is the highest priority, we encourage students to walk escorted by a parent/guardian or with other students. Students should arrive at school no sooner than 7:20 AM when the crossing guard is on duty. Kindergarteners may not walk unescorted to school. Bicycles are only encouraged on good weather days.

DAY CARE

Day Care arrangements are all made by parents/guardians. The school must be informed about these arrangements as soon as they are made so we can accommodate your child. Day Care riders are dismissed at 2:10 PM. There are numerous after school programs and day care options for CVES students; click on the text links to learn more.

INTERNATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL DAY

CVES participates in the International Walk To School Day, which is held on October 5th. Communities across America are using the walk or bike to school as the first step to change community culture and create environments that are more inviting for everyone, young and old.

CVES families are very concerned about the alarming obesity rate among U.S. children and the hazards presented by pollution within our environment. We participate in this event to raise awareness of these challenges and the desire amongst our families to correct them.

We urge all families to participate I-WALK and consider incorporating walking, biking or bus riding into their standard transportation practice.
