Math: Students become fluent in addition & subtraction; learn the concepts of even & odd numbers; fractions, picture graphs, estimation, and rounding numbers; tell time to the nearest five minute; introduction to the metric system; represent & interpret quantities and relationships using math expressions (=, >, <, ≠), introduction to multiplication; concepts of fair trades using coins and dollar bills.

Science: Students continue to refine observation, prediction & inference skills; explore measurement of mass/weight, capacity, length, speed or direction, and temperature of objects; introduction to astronomy (attributes of stars, motion of the earth, relationships of the earth to the moon & sun); effects of weather, people, plants & animals on the local environment; properties of matter; life cycles of common animals, plants and fungi.

Reading & Language Arts: Students read words using blends, diagraphs & diphthongs; recall explicit & implicit facts, ideas & genres; orally communicate for different purposes (inform, persuade & entertain); enhance the complete writing process of pre-writing, writing, editing & publishing; use of transition words, complex sentence structure with correct punctuation & capitalization.

Social Studies: The history and geography of Georgia, including historical figures and the Creek and Cherokee cultures.
