• Math: Addition & subtraction using objects, pictures, numerals and mental math; estimations using 5 & 10 benchmarks; learn names and values of coins; explore measurement; learn the calendar and basic time.

• Science: Students continue to refine observation & prediction skills; explore patterns of weather & climate; changes in physical properties of water; light & sound; effects of magnets; characteristics of plants & animals, along with their basic needs.

• Reading & Language Arts: Students use consonant sounds, vowels & spelling patterns when reading & writing; continue developing phonetic & high frequency word skills; identify the main idea, setting and characters of stories; utilize a variety of resources & strategies for writing complex & proper sentences; enhance spoken & written vocabulary; effective communication of stories and related experiences.

• Social Studies: Continue the study of U.S. history, particularly selected historical figures.
