FAQ

ATTENDANCE

Students who are not in their classrooms by 7:40 AM are considered tardy and will need to be escorted into the school to get a tardy slip from the office. Staff supervision of students begins when the bell rings at 7:15 AM. Students will not be admitted to the school prior to this time without a written permission slip from a supervising teacher.

EARLY CHECKOUT

Students may be checked out for appointments by parent or legal guardian, when necessary. Students for early checkout should be picked up by 2:00 pm to avoid the regular dismissal process, which begins shortly thereafter. Photo identification is required for checkout.

APPOINTMENTS

Please try to schedule appointments and trips when they will not interfere with school. Any student absent for five (5) consecutive days without a valid written excuse will be withdrawn from school.

ABSENCES

Students are required to provide a written excuse from their parents or legal guardians when absent. Excessive absences and/or tardiness will be referred to the school social worker for follow-up. Students that check-in after 11:15 AM are considered absent for that day. Please notify the clinic and your child's teacher in the event of a contagious disease or long-term illness. The Georgia Board of Health lawfully excuses students for the following reasons: personal illness, death in the immediate family, and special holidays approved by their faith. Students with contagious diseases should remain home until they are no longer contagious.

DRESS CODE

The student dress code is an important consideration in student life. It is important that your student is neat, clean and wears comfortable clothing conducive to an academic setting.

Often in our warm climate we have issues regarding tops and shorts. In addition, fashion can sometimes interfere with educational goals. There are certain days when we make exceptions to some of these rules, but they are rare and scheduled. Fulton County has mandated certain standards for dress that we uphold.

Modesty and moderation are good rules of thumb pertaining to the dress code:

      • No shorts or skirts above a child's middle finger tip length
      • Bike shorts, athletic shorts, soffe's or cut-offs are not appropriate
      • No hats, curlers, bandanas, sweatbands, sunglasses or gloves may be worn during school hours
      • No flip-flops, Crocs or similar style footwear is permitted

MOBILE PHONES & PAGERS

According to Fulton County Board of Education Policy and Procedure concerning Disruption and Interference with School “a student shall not carry a pocket pager, cellular telephone, or other electronic communication device on school property, on school buses, or at school-sponsored activities, except for health (or other unusual) reasons that require principal and area executive director approval, as well as a signed application from a parent or guardian.”

EMERGENCY DRILLS

Safety and security are top priorities at Creek View Elementary School. In order to provide a safe learning environment for our students, we hold fire, tornado, emergency evacuation drills and intruder drills. These drills are practiced on a regular basis in order for staff and students to know the procedure in case of a real emergency.

The City of Alpharetta and county emergency departments are also directly involved to know the school's plan should the need ever arise to deal with an emergency situation. Visitors to the school during a drill are asked to participate in setting a good example for our students.
